UPDATE – Victim Identified In New Iberia Suspicious Death

Update: The man found lying in front of a New Iberia home just after midnight Monday has been identified. According to our news partners at KATC, the body has been identified as 35-year-old Marvin Colbert, Jr.

No cause of death has been released yet as further autopsy reports are expected later this week. For now, the death is still being labeled as suspicious.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal's office says investigators with the patrol division responded to a call from the 1700 block of Anderson Street after a man was found lying in front of a home.

Sheriff's deputies along with paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene around 1 o'clock this morning.

Deputies with the Bureau of Investigation are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Police say they will not know the man's cause of death until an autopsy is completed.  Identification of the man is pending until police are able to notify the man's next of kin.
