Household Waste Day will be happening on Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Iberia Parish.

The event will take place at the Courthouse rear parking lot at the corner of Pershing & Providence Streets in New Iberia. No commercial waste will be accepted and IDs will be checked.

The following are the items that will be accepted:

  • batteries, cell phones, fax machines, phone cables, computer cables, laptops, stereos, paint(latex based only and in sealed containers), consumer electronics, telephones, phone systems, security systems, digital cameras, digital video recorders, processors, monitors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), circuit boards (any type), computer hardware (remove personal information), tires (limit 5 per address), DVD movies, video games, game stations, networking equipment, printer/toner cartridges, ink jet cartridges, portable navigation and GPS devices.

The following are the items that will not be accepted:

  • gasoline, photographic chemicals, mercury thermometers, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, medical waste, appliances, furniture, stains/oil based paint, chemical cleaners, pool chemicals, leaking containers, asbestos, aluminum/plastic/glass cans, motor oil or antifreeze, explosives, radioactive material, medications, copiers, televisions, styrofoam, paper, magazines, cardboard, newspapers, turpentine, paint thinner and stripper.

Officials advise that liquids be labeled and in closed containers.
