If you've ever had the chance to be at Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night during football season you know you're in a special place. The atmosphere and energy of one of the nations most feared home fields goes a long way in giving the LSU TIgers a real home field advantage. Now LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva tells the Baton Rouge Press Club that his department is working hard to make sure that the fans get a great home field experience as well.

If you've ever been to Tiger Stadium on game day you know one of the issues that has to be addressed is traffic. The routing of vehicles in and around the stadium as well as parking for all the fans who want to come enjoy the game are important to a great home field experience.

Alleva says while much can't be done about the infrastructure in the vicinity of the stadium, new policies and procedures could help make the experience more fan friendly.

"I can't control the fact that our infrastructure around Tiger stadium really hasn't changed in many many years. The roads are the roads so we really need the help of police to expedite our fans getting in and out of the stadium."

Alleva's remarks to the Baton Rouge Press club were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.

In addition to creating better traffic flow, Alleva said that Tiger Stadium's newly renovated  and expanded south end zone will bring the seating capacity of Death Valley to over 100-thousand fans. This should make playing in Tiger Stadium an even bigger advantage to the home team.

Fans will also enjoy the new HD jumbo video boards. That means that fans in the stadium will have the opportunity to see replays just like fans who are watching the game at home do.

Another amenity the Athletic Department is addressing is bathroom facilities. Obviously over 100-thousand fans need a place to find relief after a day of tailgating, so those improvements have been addressed as well.

Alleva also said there will be some 15-hundred tickets that could be made available to Tiger fans at an extreme discount.

"When I say discounted I mean VERY discounted price. This will be for a father and son or daughter to be able to come to games at an extremely affordable rate. I'm very glad we we're able to do that."

The tickets in the new south end zone must first be offered to visiting fans, but if they are not purchased they will then be made available to Tiger fans.  LSU will open the 2014 Season August 30th on the road in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff in Houston against Wisconsin. The Tigers will welcome fans to Tiger Stadium for the home opener September 6th when Sam Houston State comes to Baton Rouge.
