It is a shame the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana will be remembered for what didn't happen more so than what actually happened. Mother Nature has thrown a horrible race weekend at the state and this has wrecked havoc with the motorsports event. Organizers of the race have made adjustments to get the race in and completed by changing the start time of this afternoon's race. The race will begin at 1:45 instead of 2:45. That move was made to accommodate a very wet forecast for later in the day.

Forecasters in and around the New Orleans area say rain chances will be increasing over the track location, the NOLA Motorsports Park, substantially later in the afternoon. It is hoped that an earlier start will give competitors and fans the chance to enjoy a complete event.

Qualifying for the race was washed out Saturday and the starting grid will be determined by the finish order at the Indy Racing League's first event of the season. In that event in St. Petersburg Florida, Juan Pablo Montoya took the checkered flag. He will start on pole in New Orleans this afternoon. That could be a problem since Montoya was not one of the faster cars in practice and qualifying.

With a wet track and falling water what will eventually become a crown jewel on the IRL circuit is going to look more like a high speed parade in a fog. Let's hope the weather will break and these incredible teams can show their stuff to local fans and a worldwide television audience.
