UPDATE: Es-caped Inmate, Girlfriend Arrested Near Houma

UPDATE: Escaped inmate Roderick Duhon has been returned to custody of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office aftetr being arrested early Monday morning.

Sheriff's spokesman John Mowell said Duhon and his girlfriend-- Avilla Savoy-- were located early this morning while hiding out at a hotel near Houma.

After multiple agencies assisted in locating the couple, Duhon was arrested for simple escape and Savoy was booked for accessory after the fact to simple escape.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate who escaped from a work detail this afternoon.

Sheriff's spokesman John Mowell reported at approximately 3:20 this afternoon 35-year-old Roderick Duhon escaped custody while being returned to the Direct Supervision Unit on Willow Street.

Duhon's last known address was on the 800 block of Voorhies Street in Lafayette.

Duhon was not armed at the time of his departure and is not classified as a violent offender.

Anyone with information on Duhon's whereabouts is urged to call the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
