When the connections associated with Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino made the move north to St. Landry Parish they promised the new facility would bring better racing and bigger purses for Louisiana's horse racing fans. This Saturday night Evangeline Downs delivers another big money night of racing with the Inaugural Turf Sprint.

This is just part of a great night of big stakes races planned for Acadiana's hometown track. In all the night will feature a card with total purses at over $775,000.00. This includes the $70-thousand dollar Lafayette and Acadiana. This pair of races for Louisiana bred three-year-olds running 7 furlongs on the main track.

Following those races will be The Opelousas. This will be for fillies and mares, three years old and up going a mile and a sixteenth on the turf. Up next the main track will feature the Evangeline for three year old and up running a mile and the the Inaugural Turf Sprint will take center stage. All of these races will feature a purse of at least $100-thousand dollars.

The night will also feature an All-Stakes Pick Four wagering opportunity with a $100-thousand dollar guranteed pool. This pick four will cover races 5 thru 8. Post time Saturday night at Evangeline Downs is scheduled for a special time of 3:50pm. With the first of the stakes races scheduled to go to post at 5:55 pm.
