Jamaican and bobsledding were two words that were not supposed to ever go together. That changed in the 1988 Olympic games when the team from Jamaica won the hearts of the world, not for their prowess at the very winter sport of bobsledding, but for their determination to compete.

This story was chronicled in the film Cool Runnings and made the unlikely combination of a tropical island and a frozen winter sport a significant tourist attraction. At Jamaica's Mystic Mountain Park you can take the lift from the beach to the top of the mountains through a tropical rain forest. You can also ride a "bobsled" down to the bottom and back up again.

It just goes to show you there is more to Jamaica than just rum, reefer and the beach.
