If you're traveling anywhere along between Broussard and Cypress Bayou Casino this morning and early afternoon you are going to see a lot of jeeps on the roadway. Today is the 10th Annual Jeep Jaunt and this event will happen rain or shine. It is a benefit for the American Lung Association and through the years has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for that organization.

Today's inclement weather forecast will no doubt put a damper on some of the events associated with Jeep Jaunt but the main event, the live auction, party, and raffle of a brand new 2015 Jeep from Sterling Jeep in Opelousas will go on as scheduled in the pavilion at Cypress Bayou Casino.

Rain is expected for much of the morning and into the afternoon. You can see where the heaviest rain is falling and make your plans to either be a part of the "jaunt" on the road or just meet up with everyone at the party later.

As a safety precaution organizers of the Jeep Jaunt will make a determination later in the morning if the procession from Celebrity Theaters will be done en mass or if the "jaunt" will be broken up into smaller processions along several different routes. There will be maps of several different routes from Broussard to Cypress Bayou Casino that individual participants may choose.

Even if don't drive a Jeep or your Jeep doesn't have a top and you don't choose to drive in the rain you can still be a part of the Jeep Jaunt party and raffle at Cypress Bayou Casino. The day of registration fee is $25 per person and it includes your ticket for door prizes and your meal.
