NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal has replaced another member of the flood board that filed a controversial lawsuit against the oil and gas industry.

Jindal's office announced Friday that Tyrone Ben has been appointed to fill the seat of Tim Doody on the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East. Ben is a human resources manager for a mental health and counseling service in Chalmette.

Doody's term had expired. He had applied for another term, but Jindal made clear that he wouldn't select Doody, who supported the lawsuit seeking damages from oil, gas and pipeline companies over damage to wetlands.

There remains a five-member majority on the board that backs the suit.

Jindal has signed a bill to retroactively kill the lawsuit. The new law faces a likely legal challenge from lawsuit supporters.
