First it was Calvin Borel a couple of weeks ago getting busted for a DUI. Now Kent Desormeaux is in trouble with the law.

The Maurice native and three-time Kentucky Derby winning jockey allegedly tried to run over a Saratoga Springs, New York cop. The incident happened yesterday at about 6:30pm at the Saratoga Race Course when Desormeaux hit the officer while driving his 2003 Porsche.

Desormeaux was charged with reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. He was released on $500 bail.

We sure hope this was just a one time bad judgment on our Acadiana native’s part. We’ll keep you posted as more details become available.
