Judge Rules Quincy Richard Ineligible For School Board

Judge James Doherty ruled this morning that Quincy Richard is not eligible to hold the position of school board member in St. Landry Parish.

According to our news partners at KATC Judge Doherty said Richard must step down immediately because he did not wait 15 years to run for office after a felony conviction.  Richard plead guilty in 2004 to maintaining false public records in connection with a grade-buying scandal at Southern University.  At the time of his guilty plea Richard was a member of the school board and stepped down.  In the 2010 election he ran for and was re-elected to his old seat.
