The group "Keep Lafayette Beautiful" was very busy along three blocks of the Northwest Evangeline Thruway this Saturday as they spent hours picking up 3.25 tons of grass, dirt and debris.

Twenty volunteers from several groups came out to help with the anti-litter efforts.

Several groups were represented with members who joined the clean up effort including:

  • Members of "Keep Lafayette Beautiful"
  • UL fraternity Sigma Chi Lambda Psi
  • "Rebuilding Together" Organization
  • B&A All Around, A Lafayette-based all-purose contractor
  • Project Front Yard

Mike Mills, Keep KLB board chairman says,

 

"Our mission at KLB is to perform beautification projects throughout Lafayette Parish. We recruit as many community members as possible to join our efforts, whether that means joining in with one of our projects, or simply by cleaning their neighborhood or picking up litter whenever possible."

 

The weekend work meant that volunteers collected some 6,500 pounds of dirt, grass and debris from the three block area.

Keep Lafayette Beautiful is sponsored by Lafayette City Parish Government. KLB is also a supporter of "Project Front Yard".
