This past Saturday, the lovely Ms. Alli and myself headed down I-10 east to catch one of our favorite artists in concert, the great Keith Urban.

Keith brought his Ripcord Tour  to the Smoothie King Center along with guests Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris, and as usual, it was outstanding. There are few individuals on this planet who can play the guitar like that Aussie!

But there was one particular moment in the show that made me smile. It was a few songs into Keith's set when he went off the script, or rather the set list, and played just a part of a song.

That song was the Mel McDaniel hit "Louisiana Saturday Night".

Why did it make me smile? It was actually my request. There's a backstory.

Let me take you back a few years to when I got to interview Keith Urban before his tour stop at Lafayette's Cajundome. It was a question-and-answer type setting for some winners. And during that interview I asked him if he knew any Cajun songs. He said that he didn't think he did. I replied with, "I'm sure you know something with a Louisiana influence, at least a song like "Louisiana Saturday Night""?

He said of course he knew that song. That was the end of that part of the conversation and I thought nothing of it until during his concert that night.

That dude went and played "Louisiana Saturday Night" during his concert that night! You could tell it was off the list because the lights were on in the Cajundome and the band didn't really play along with him.

He played my request. I just thought that was the coolest thing ever.

That was in 2011. Fast forward to Saturday night and I once again got to tell our ole buddy hi before the show. In the few minutes we got to chat I reminded him of that night. He actually remembered.

And what do you know, about four or five songs into his set Saturday night, he did it again.

I smiled, hopped up and grabbed a bit of the song on video for proof!

I hate disc jockeys who name drop and act like they're so connected (which we're not really), but I hope you can indulge me here.

I just thought this was too cool not to share.

And if you ever get a chance to see KU in concert, don't miss it. He is simply one of the best live performers out there now. And he's a pretty nice guy too.
