Kids On A Leash – What Do You Think?

The most fun issues to discuss are the ones where you can see some sense in both sides of the argument. In this argument we are discussing leashes for kids. The technical name for the apparatus is a Safety Harness and the TV show Modern Family has sparked a big debate among parents as to whether or not this a good thing.

We never used these things on either of our kids. I personally don't care for the idea of having a kid on a tether. I like holding hands or teaching the children to stay close. I understand that sometimes kids don't listen and we've had our share of breakaway babies during the toddling years. The case for the safety harness is based upon the idea that it is better to have them connected than risk having to run after them. This is important especially if you have more than one little one to keep in the herd. Tell us what you think? Safety Harness or leash?
