Vance McAllister has only been a United States Congressman for one term. He's packed a whole lot of  political baggage in that one term. He gained fame and got support from the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame. He swept into office on a platform of family values.

Then things began to go badly for the new Congressman. He got caught on video kissing a woman who wasn't his wife. He asked for forgiveness and told us he would serve out his term but not run for re-election. He then decided to run for re-election,oddly enough against one of the Robertson family nephews. And now if you believe the results of a new poll, his political career might have just reached the end of the road.

Pollster Darrell Glascock says this is the first time in any of the polls he's conducted concerning  Louisiana's 5th Congressional District that McAllister has been first or second choice. He told the Louisiana Radio Network,

"He's significantly dropped in points and right now if the election were held today he would not make the runoff."

The leading candidate according Glascock's poll is Republican Dr. Ralph Abraham who seems assured a spot in a runoff election polling 24% in this survey. The second choice might not be as clear cut. Democrat Jamie Mayo showed 18% support, then came McAllilster with 15.7% of those polled choosing him. Duck Dynasty nephew and political newcomer Zach Dasher has seen a strong upsurge in support climbing from virtual obscurity to 15.1% in this poll.

"If the Dasher campaign continues to move they have really good shot at picking up three or four points and moving ahead of Jamie,"

With a week to go until election day one thing is for sure, all the candidates will be out in force meeting voters and airing messages on radio and TV explaining why they are the right choice to represent you.
