La. Senate Committee Approves Bill Allowing Lawmakers To Bring Guns Into State Capitol

Legislation that would allow legislators who have a concealed handgun permit to bring their gun into the State Capitol has advanced to the La. Senate floor.

According to our news partners at Louisiana Radio Network, Franklin Senator Brent Allain's bill would also require a lawmaker to undergo annual firearms training. Rep. Allain says he wants them to have the ability to protect themselves.

The bill passed the La. Senate Government Affairs Committee 5 to 3.
