I washed my car on Friday, by Saturday enough pollen had collected on the surface of my hood I could write my name. Such is the case for the teary eyed, sore nosed, allergy sufferer in Acadiana.

Yesterday's downpours probably helped clean the air a little but the allergy forecast for Acadiana continues to show a serious need for a tissue.

The biggest irritant in the air around the region is tree pollen. Bald Cypress pollen is the most noteworthy offender. There is some ragweed and grass pollen too, but the bulk of the sniffling and  sneezing is because of the tree pollen.

Those who have allergies to certain kinds of molds might also be feeling the effects of a lot of airborne irritants over the next few days as well.  According to the website Pollen.com most of Acadiana will be in the "yellow" for the next several weeks as the spring pollination season is just about at its peak. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms  in the forecast for today but that rainfall will most likely not occur until at least Thursday or Friday.
