The Lafayette-Acadiana Softball Officials Association is looking for new members to join its ranks for the 2015 season.  The association's umpires service high schools in Lafayette, Acadia, Evangeline, St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes.  In addition to high school games, the association's umpires also call some middle school and junior high school softball games during the season.

No prior umpiring experience is necessary, though some experience and knowledge of the game of softball is preferred.

You must be 18-years or older to register with the association.  Dues are $50, which pays for  your rules books and your membership in both the local association and the Louisiana High School Officials Association.

The deadline to register and pay dues is January 8.  The LASOA will hold a registration night on Sunday, January 4 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Teche Electric Lodge on Eraste Landry Road (next door to the Teche Electric Store).  There, registrants can fill out their registration packets, pay dues, and meet with fellow umpires.

If you have any questions about registering to be a softball umpire, call Don Halpin at 337-849-5931, Terry Benoit at 337-344-1834, or Roger Leonard at 337-517-5359.
