The Diocese of Lafayette can now share the church's message from a mobile evangelization vehicle dubbed the Spiritual Care Unit.

According to our news partner KATC, the Diocese acquired an old ambulance through an anonymous donor and converted it into a mobile confessional equipped with bibles rosaries, bibles and holy water.

The Rev. Michael Champagne said the Spiritual Care Unit is a way to "give pride and public expression" of the Catholic faith.

From the Diocese grounds in Lafayette, Bishop Michael Jarrell blessed the new religious ride in front of an audience of students and diocese members. He said Pope Francis instructed the global church to reach out to followers from outside church walls.

The Spiritual Care Unit will hit Acadiana streets on Dec. 8 which marks the beginning of the Popes holy Year of Mercy.
