Lafayette High Band Selected to Perform in 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Lafayette High Mighty Lion Marching Band received some great news recently -- they're going to New York City! The award-winning band has been selected to perform in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

This marks the first time Lafayette High will appear in this world famous parade.

The Mighty Lion Band was selected from more than 100 applicants as one of only 10 bands to march in the 92nd edition of the annual holiday parade.

"As state champions for over a decade with intricate and captivating field shows, Lafayette High School is a deserving choice to represent the great state of Louisiana in our 2018 Parade," said Macy's Thanksgiving Parade creative director, Wesley Whatley. "Macy's Band Selection Committee welcomes the Mighty Lion Marching Band for their debut appearance in 2018!"

The band will now have the next 18 months to plan for their appearance. Rest assured there will be tons of practice time and lots of fundraising to make this dream-come-true trip possible.
