When it comes to high school marching bands in the Class 3A division there is none better than Lafayette High School's Mighty Lion Marching band. The band, under the direction of Scotty Walker, earned top honors in their class in Saturday's Bands of America Grand National Showcase in Indianapolis Indiana. In addition to earning top honors in their class the band placed 11th nationally out of all bands in the competition. Lafayette High was also honored for Outstanding Musical Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect for their show Southern Dawn.

This is the culmination of months of hard work by band members, the band staff and band booster volunteers. The marching season for the Mighty Lion Band began last July with Summer camp. This was followed by hours of practice after school and on weekends.

Congratualtions to all who are associated with the Mighty Lion Band, a great representative of our community. The band will be arriving at Lafayette High School around 5pm on Sunday afternoon.
