The Lafayette Little League Junior League All Stars (13-14 year old) are now 2-0 in pool play after defeating Massapequa, New York, (US East) by the score of 5-0 in the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

The players representing the Hub City jumped out on New York 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st innings. They then added another run, taking a 2-0 lead into the top of the 4th inning. That's when New York looked like they may be able to get a run or two on the board, but left two walked batters on bath to end their half of the inning.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Lafayette then put the game away after Miguel Reyes hit a 3-run homer to give them a 5-0 lead, which was all they needed.

Three Lafayette pitchers - Colin Thibodeaux, Emile Leger and Brandon Duhon - combined to keep New York off the board in this matchup.

Next up for Lafayette is the team from Tennessee (US Southeast). The two teams are scheduled to play at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday on ESPN 1420 and www.espn1420.com, weather permitting. James P. Bitterman will have the call.
