According to a press release issued by Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel's office, Durel and Broussard Mayor Charles Langlinais held a meeting today, and the two leaders have reached an agreement in principle to settle the recent disputes between the two municipalities.

Broussard had sued Lafayette over annexation of Ambassador Caffery to the Vieux Chennes golf club as well how much the city of Broussard owes Lafayette for water that was never paid for.

As part of the agreement, Lafayette leaders have agreed that services which the city  provides to Broussard will not be terminated.

Both mayors were present at the negotiations, and all parties agreed that making these moves will best serve the citizens of both cities, as well as the residents of the parish of Lafayette.

The press release noted, "All participants in the dialogue felt it was appropriate that an agreement was reached during Holy Week."
