The past few days I've noticed this going around Facebook quite a bit, so I wanted to make sure you were aware, and see if you've had any similar experiences.

Lafayette Mom Isola Pierotti-Hoff and her young boy Luke were enjoying a day at Girard Park, having a fun time when Luke slipped on the moving bridge on the playground equipment and broke his femur. By all accounts Luke is doing OK other than his broken leg and having to wear a spica cast for the next 6 weeks.

What she has taken to Facebook to warn parents about is the fact that this bridge gets pretty slippery with dew, rain or condensation. It's not the design of the bridge, it's how dangerous it can get when it's wet.

Isola has reported it to the park and was told that the bridge "Meets park regulations". I have no doubt the bridge does absolutely meet with all specs and regulations. As parents, we know all too well that sometimes, accidents happen. The concern from this parent and other Acadiana parents is the situation that occurs once the bridge is wet.

Hope you get well soon Luke!
