Update: The suspect, 20-year-old Tre Lamar Bookard, was caught in a traffic stop on Monday afternoon in El Paso and arrested on the warrant for Simple Robbery. Police continue to investigate.

A bank robbery happened at the Whitney Bank on Pinhook Road Friday around 2:00 p.m.

Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton says the suspect is described as a black male, medium build wearing a blue jean jacket and shorts.

Cpl. Mouton says the suspect gave the teller a note demanding money, then left after an undisclosed amount of cash was given to him.

There were no injuries within the bank.  The suspect is described as a medium build black male wearing a blue jean jacket and shorts. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
