Lafayette Police have arrested a local mother after her little boy wandered away from her home while she was there sleeping.

Police have booked 19-year-old Chelsea Jones with one count of second-offense child desertion.

It's not the first time Johns has been booked on this kind of charged.  Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton says Johns was charged with one count of child desertion in 2012.

The police spokesman says the three-year-old little boy was found at a home off of a West Congress Street.

The mother told police she fell asleep inside her home and the toddler wandered two blocks away from the home.
