Lafayette pops up on a bunch of national lists for various things. Most of those things are good, some are bad, but that's just how it goes. A recent study done by badcredit.org ranks Lafayette as the MOST indulgent city in the ENTIRE United States.

Lafayette beat out New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport, all of which made the top 20 list. Lafayette is more indulgent than New Orleans y'all.

"The website used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and credit reporting bureau Experian to rank 20 U.S. cities among 105 analyzed for obesity, drinking and smoking and average consumer debt."

It might not be quite as bad as it seems though. As theadvertiser.com points out, this same website previously ranked Lafayette as one of the hardest working cities in the country.

There's a correlation between the two.

"Lafayette, Louisiana, actually has an excuse for being the most over-indulgent area — they're among the hardest-working people in the U.S.," the site said. "When the people aren't busy being incredibly productive, you can find them pampering themselves at local restaurants like Randol's and Johnson's Boucaniere."
