Lafayette Victim In Bourbon Street Shooting Shot 5 Times, Recovering At Lafayette General [Video]

Lafayette resident twenty-year-old Brittany Ben was out in New Orleans, having a good time with friends and family this past weekend when out of nowhere, bullets started flying. Moments later after fleeing from the scene, another woman pointed at Brittany's shirt. It was then she realized she had been shot...five times.

KATC reports Ben was shot three times in her chest and twice in her arm. Ben's twenty-one-year-old nephew, Deion Ben, was shot in the pelvis.

After Ben was stabilized at the hospital in New Orleans, she was discharged and came home to continue recovering at Lafayette General.

Ben's cousin Jorrian Ben tells KATC -

We [Jorrian and Brittany]  were running through the stampede on Bourbon Street and a girl pointed it out to us. [Brittany’s] whole shirt  was just full of blood. Then I could see the bullet holes in her chest and I started screaming. I panicked and then she panicked.

Doctors tell KATC that Ben's surgeries went well and she is expected to make a full recovery.

Brittany's cousin Deion Ben is still hospitalized in New Orleans due to the severity of his injuries. He is, thankfully, expected to make a full recovery as well.
