It's hard to believe we started the month of July behind on rainfall in Acadiana but we did. The past few days we've caught up with the rainfall total and it looks like we're going to be at least average as far as rainfall totals for the month are concerned.

Yesterday afternoon, like Tuesday afternoon, saw very heavy tropical downpours over a good portion of the area. Today should be no different.

A high pressure system currently centered to the east of the area is responsible for the increase in moisture streaming across Acadiana from the Gulf of Mexico. This high pressure system is expected to migrate slowly to the west cutting down the southerly flow and reducing our rain chances for the weekend. The downside to that forecast is it means that the temperatures will go up.

This weekend anticipated high temperatures combined with the humidity will give most of us a feels like temperature of over 100 degrees. Rain chances will still be in the forecast with probabilities ranging from 20%-40% depending upon where you happen to live.
