Judging by the art work that was fingered into the dust on the hood of my car, it's been a while since we've had any rain. It doesn't look like Acadiana will see any significant chance of rain anytime soon either.

The current long range forecast for the upcoming work week does include a chance of showers but not enough of a chance of rain to make you want to change your plans.

That actually is great news considering that this is homecoming week at U.L. and there will be a lot of activity in and around the university. There is also Halloween on Friday or earlier depending upon which community you live in and the importance that community places on high school football.

The way the forecast shapes up is quite simple. The current weather pattern will bring warmer temperatures to the area over the next several days. By mid-week a cold front will push through the area and there might be enough moisture in the atmosphere for this push of colder air to kick off a shower on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Rain chances on each of those days is listed at 20% or less.

By Friday, Halloween, the cold front will have pushed through and temperatures will be perfect for trick or treating. The weather should also be great for homecoming festivities and next Sunday's Insane Inflatable 5k at Evangeline Downs. In fact the forecast for next weekend will find overnight low temperatures dropping into the middle 40's with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the middle 60's.
