Yesterday morning's severe weather is now in the past. The clean up is what is left and for many families that means a lot of cleaning. There are still schools closed and some Acadiana residents might still be waiting for power to be restored.  For the most part aside from some scattered leaves and limbs life should return to a much calmer and cooler state today.

The storm system that created the severe weather of yesterday has moved off to the east. With that, so has the threat for severe weather in Acadiana according to the Storm Prediction Center.

In place of all warm moist unstable air is a more stable air mass. Skies across the region will be slow to clear today but by tomorrow sunshine should be in abundance. The good news is that glorious sunshine should stay with us through the weekend. This could mark the first rain free weekend in Acadiana this month.

The forecast calls for temperatures to be in the lower 70's this afternoon. Those cooler temperatures will moderate just a bit on Wednesday as the sun breaks through the clouds. By Saturday's Maracas in May Celebration and Concert in Downtown Lafayette the weather should be perfect for a margarita, a Corona, and some incredible live music.
