When you read that headline you smiled didn't you? The thought of cooler weather and the end of the oppressive heat and humidity is a thought that all of us in Acadiana look forward to thinking.

To be honest, this Summer hasn't really been that bad. I don't recall any day where the temperature topped 100-degrees. Granted the heat index was well above 100-degrees for a lot of days still we never had an excessive heat advisory issued and that is a good thing.

So what about this cooler weather? Well don't throw away your wet towels and your ice packs just yet. We've still got a few more days of typical Summer weather to deal with but beginning this weekend we'll start to see some changes, if the timing on the forecast models holds true.

Here's what the weather team is thinking over at KATC TV 3 . A cold front is currently pushing across the midsection of the country. This cold front has the potential to push through Acadiana and bring cooler, not just drier air with it. Friday's forecast will call for an increased chance for rain. If the models are correct then Saturday could be 5 degrees cooler than Friday. By Tuesday the high temperature might reach only to the  lower 80's.

Granted this forecast does have plenty of wiggle room to change over the next 5 to 8 days the models I have looked at are in agreement that the cold front will make it all the way through and off the coast. Let's hope our technology is right on the money this time since a nice day with the windows down would be a welcome relief from the high heat and humidity we've been dealing with since early May.
