A warm moist Gulf air mass has currently settled over much of Acadiana this morning. The high moisture content and the lack of a breeze has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Dense Fog Advisory for much of the area. That means visibilities in the affected area could be a quarter of a mile or less.

After the fog lifts, which is expected to be before 10 this morning Acadiana residents will find mostly cloudy skies and muggy conditions. There is a threat of showers today as a frontal system and low pressure move closer to the area. Most of the forecast models keep the precipitation away from the area until later this afternoon and evening.

The outlook for Saturday and Sunday are not nearly as bright. Rain chances with the possibility of thunderstorms will be quite high. The best chance of rain will come Saturday. Sunday's chances of showers will be slightly diminished but still a significant threat of rain should prompt you to check the forecast before you leave the house.
