It doesn't matter which celebration you are attending this weekend. Whether you are supporting St Jude Children's Research Hospital by being a part of Cajun Woodstock in Church Point, making the short drive to Arnaudville for the Etouffee Festival or hitting the streets of downtown Lafayette for Festival International. According the weather gurus at KATC TV 3 you're going to have to dodge a shower.

Rob Perillo posted on the Weather Blog at KATC.com yesterday that he felt a lot of the shower activity for Friday would come in the afternoon. Then there would be a break, then more showers and heavier thunderstorms in the late night and early morning hours of Saturday. Depending upon the timing of these heavier showers there might have to be adjustments made to the Festival 5k that's being run at 8am Saturday but we will keep you posted.

Most of the forecast models do show a slight risk of severe weather for Acadiana late Friday into Saturday, the Storm Prediction Center agrees with those models as well. The good news is this. If we get through the stormy weather while we're sleeping, it's shaping up to be a great festival weekend.

You will need some sunscreen and remember to stay hydrated as temperatures will be approaching 90 on both Saturday and Sunday. The good news is that the humidity will be slightly lower.
