As you start your day in Acadiana this morning be advised that you are going to need a little extra time to get where you need to get. There have been reports of dense fog in many locations in the area. There was also an accident reported very early this morning on Interstate 10 at milepost 90. That accident was the reason law enforcement agencies were redirecting traffic off of the interstate at Rayne (Exit 87) to highway 90. Eastbound traffic could reenter the interstate at Duson (Exit 92). As 3:30 am the detour was still in effect.

The fog this morning should lift by 9am revealing a mix of clouds and sun for the remainder of the day. There is also a slight risk of showers today and tonight (30%). An approaching cold front on Friday will spike the rain chances significantly by Friday afternoon and evening. High School Play-off football will most likely be played in wet conditions Friday night.

The significant rain chances will continue into Saturday morning with much cooler temperatures moving into the area. If you're planning on walking in the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk make sure you tune in 97.3 The Dawg for the latest information on that event. The Heart Walk is also scheduled for early Saturday morning and it could be affected by the cold wet weather as well.  Regardless any outside activities will require some rain gear and a warm coat. Sunday should be cold but rain free with better chances of rain moving into the area early next week.

Oddly enough the current weather pattern is strikingly similar to the exact same dates 50 years ago. Could this give us a clue as to what we can expect for Thanksgiving?
