A co-worker of mine who was just in town from Grand Rapids Michigan commented about how nice it was to be able to walk around in shirt sleeves in December. I can only imagine the physical shock his body will be going through when he gets off his plane in Michigan later today.

Temperatures in Lafayette have been unseasonably mild the past few days and today and tomorrow should be no different. However, an approaching cold front will change things to a more December like feel by Sunday.

Currently a low pressure system situated over the Texas panhandle is pulling moisture from the Gulf of Mexico over the state. These southerly winds increase the temperature and the humidity. There could be a pop up shower this afternoon but rain is more likely on Saturday.

As the low pressure moves eastward over the next two days it will drag a cold front through the area late in the day  on Saturday. There won't be a drastic change in temperatures but the air will be cooler and drier for Sunday.

If you're planning on attending the Sonic Christmas Parade Sunday afternoon in downtown Lafayette we suggest a light jacket or at least long sleeves as the temperatures will be in the low to mid 60's. You might want to visit the Family Violence Intervention Program's hot chocolate and hot dog  booth in the 700 block of Jefferson during the parade for a nice warm up and snack.
