I guess we could have included high school football, the Giant Omelet Festival, Paint the Town Orange in Delcambre, and a few other festivals, events, fundraisers and other things in that headline too.

This is the time of year when things really do get busy in Acadiana and it looks like Mother Nature is throwing us a big ol' juicy bone to enjoy.

For high school football and Halloween across the region the weather could not be any nicer. Dave Baker's forecast for today is calling for abundant sunshine, mild temperatures and a delightful breeze. The afternoon high temperature today should be about 74 degrees and that is quite pleasant. Tonight at kickoff time and trick-or-treat time that temperature will be falling through the 60's.

Early morning Saturday will find a reenforcing shot of cold air has pushed its way into Acadiana and there will be a bit of breeze. The low on Saturday morning  will be near 40 degrees.

Temperatures will moderate into the low 60's for Saturday afternoon. The expected game time temperature for the Homecoming game between South Alabama and the Ragin' Cajuns is 62 degrees. If you don't like being cold at football games you might want to bring a jacket. The temperature will drop into the 50's by the end of the game.

Sunday morning the early waves running the Insane Inflatable 5k at Evangeline Downs will need to take a few extra minutes to warm up and stretch out those muscles.  Sunday morning temperatures will be in the upper 30's but with abundant sunshine the day should begin to warm up nicely. Eventually the high temperature on Sunday will be near 70 degrees.
