It looks as if the faucet is about to once again be turned on over Acadiana. The past few days haven't been that bad as far as precipitation goes. The rain chances have been minimal and to be honest, we've needed the chance to dry out. The forecast for the upcoming work week does seem to indicate that the drying period is about to be over.

A large area of high pressure has been dominating the Acadiana forecast for the past few days. That has kept even the afternoon pop up showers at bay. The high pressure system is beginning to weaken and that will mean an increase in afternoon showers at first. Then a better chance of heavier showers and thunderstorms later in the week as our weather is influenced by systems moving in from the west.

The best chance of showers and maybe even a heavy thunderstorm appears to be late Thursday and more likely Friday as a disturbance moves close enough to the area to interact with the abundant moisture supply. The threat of severe weather at this time seems unlikely, however, predicting severe weather in long range forecast is never as accurate as it needs to be.
