Could Mother Nature be throwing Acadiana a spring like break for Mardi Gras? Right now the forecast for the annual celebration of beads, booze and chicken chasing appears to be timed out nicely for a mostly dry time on the parade route.

The current forecast shows temperatures today and Saturday will be very springlike. The afternoon high today should make the mid 60's, while tomorrow's high temperature could be in the 70's. Sunday should be a warm day as well. The rain chances are minimal for today through Sunday with most forecast holding a 20% chance of rain or less. However the timing of the next frontal system will be crucial to Mardi Gras plans for late Sunday into Monday.

A cold front is expected to move through the area sometime Sunday evening through early Monday morning. The rain chances with this system will be quite elevated. In fact most forecasters think just about everyone will see some rain during this time frame. The good news is the threat of significant rain should be out of the area by midday Monday. Mardi Gras Day looks to be cool but basically rain free.  You can get the latest weather information from our media partner KATC TV 3.
