Acadiana's perfect spring weather is about to give way to something we're more used to. Partly cloudy skies, humid conditions and a chance of thunderstorms. Forecasters say that today will provide a mix of clouds and sun over the area and rain chances will be on the increase over the next 24 hours.

Friday appears to be the day with the best chance of rain as an approaching frontal system is expected to interact with the increased Gulf moisture and bring a good chance of rain and thunderstorms to the area. The Storm Prediction Center is not forecasting any severe weather for Acadiana. There will be a slight risk of severe weather in the central and northern sections of the state on Friday.

Here is what we can expect for the weekend:

Saturday conditions should be improving with a minimal risk of showers for the early part of the day. Those rain chances should decrease by the time Saturday Night's Maracas in May festivities kick off in Downtown Lafayette. The outlook for Mother's Day is a mix of clouds and sun with only a slight risk of rain.
