The Lafayette weather forecast hasn't changed, the rain continues and will continue most of the day. The current radar scan shows almost all of south and central Louisiana with falling precipitation early this morning.

A frontal system pushed through the area yesterday. This system has since slowed down along the coast allowing waves of energy and instability to slide along the frontal boundary through the area. The waves are kicking up areas of showers and thunderstorms.

The potential for flooding rains is possible in some of the heavier downpours. The threat of severe weather is not that great though some of the thunderstorms early this morning have required advisories for the offshore waters.

The forecast from KATC TV 3 indicates rain chances will be very high for today before tapering off and turning a little cooler on Thursday. The weekend forecast looks to be mostly sunny and very pleasant.
