Officially Summer begins on Saturday but you'd be hard press to convince anyone who lives in South Louisiana that it isn't already here. This week will Acadiana in what is called a typical Summer pattern. The days will start out sunny and humid. Then around lunch time clouds will start to thicken and by later afternoon a rumble of thunder and some raindrops would not be out of the question.

This Summer pattern is expected to maintain a grip on the Acadiana weather forecast for the balance of this work week. Temperatures will top out around 90 degrees for afternoon high's and the overnight low temperatures will be in the mid to lower 70 degree range.

Last week a long range tropical model was suggesting some formation during this week but subsequent models have now quashed that idea, at least for now. The only thing tropical we can expect this week is tropical temperatures and big tropical downpours in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. The rain chances will actually decrease for later in the week as an area of high pressure builds over the area and reduces the southerly flow of moist air out of the Gulf of Mexico.
