Sunscreen or umbrella, the answer to that query according to the Lafayette weather forecast is yes. South Louisiana is just about to slip into the typical summertime weather pattern of hot and humid with a chance of a showers in the afternoon.

Besides the warm late May temperatures the other catalyst for an afternoon thunderstorm would be an  upper level disturbance that is forecast to move out of central Texas during the day today. This upper level energy will connect with an old frontal boundary over west central Louisiana and might provide enough lift to fire up thunderstorms this afternoon.

The current forecast models suggest the greatest threat of rain will occur in an area from the Toledo Bend Reservoir to Crowley in Acadia parish. That doesn't mean other areas won't see a pop up thunderstorms.

The crew over at KATC TV 3 have your Memorial Day weekend projected like this. Regardless of the forecast we all know that on a warm muggy afternoon the possibility of a shower or thunderstorm is always there.
