An area of disturbed weather in the western Gulf of Mexico is currently under scrutiny by the National Hurricane Center. Forecasters don't believe this area of thunderstorms will spin up into a named system but it will have an effect on your weekend.

Satellite images show this broad area of low pressure is pushing abundant moisture over the western Gulf states. This moisture combined with daytime heating should be enough of a catalyst to make outside plans today and Sunday rather dicey.

The current forecast from KATC's Storm Team 3 weather lab is in full agreement with the prognostication of the National Weather Service. In fact flood watches have been posted for some of the coastal parishes and the potential for flood warnings is rather high.

The current radar scan will give you an idea of where the heaviest activity is and help you plan your activities accordingly.
