Lafayette Weather – Wet Weekend On The Way

A wet weekend is on the way for Lafayette and Acadiana. The bulk of the wet weather will move in during the day Friday and stay through most of Saturday. The good news is there will be some cooler less humid days to follow. The bad news is there could be some flooding rainfall in parts of Acadiana. The graphic to the left indicates that some parts of Acadiana might see more than 3 inches of rain over the weekend.

According to Dave Baker and the Storm Team 3  Weather Lab of professionals at KATC the rain chances will substantially higher than a normal Mid-September day. The catalyst is a cold front that will be pushing toward the region during the day on Friday. This frontal boundary will provide a lift in the atmosphere that will help squeeze moisture out of the air and on to the ground.

Some of the National Weather Service models are suggesting rainfall totals of several inches in parts of the region between now and Sunday morning. The big question besides how much rain will fall is how much rain will fall in a short period of time. We do a lot of things well in Louisiana, draining isn't one of them. Our suggestion to you is to stay close to 97.3 The Dawg for the latest weather updates and if you do plan to attend high school football or the LSU and Auburn game at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night bring your rain jacket and wear your rubber boots.
