The Mickey Shunick case has revealed new, startling information about Brandon Scott Lavergne's history and past crimes. Brandon Scott Lavergne has been connected to the once believed "cold case" on Lisa Pate. In case you did not know, Lisa Pate disappeared in July of 1999. Her remains were found three months later by a couple who were exploring property behind a house they were renting. Police were not able to confirm cause of death because of her body's condition. Brandon Scott Lavergne was not charged with Lisa Pate's murder, although he has a history of violence and his past is most definitely sketchy.

As of yesterday, Lavergne was re-booked into the Lafayette parish jail on the first degree murder charge in connection with Lisa Pate's 1999 death. He was originally booked on July 5 with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping charges in the disappearance of Mickey Shunick.  Lavergne served eight years in jail for the sex crime; however, his battery charges towards his ex-wife slipped through the cracks for twelve years. It is unfortunate and baffling how this man got away with Lisa Pate's murder for almost thirteen years. Finally, the Pate family can have closure. The Mickey Shunick case is still ongoing, and we can only hope that Brandon Scott Lavergne is charged with everything he deserves. The Shunick family deserves closure, as well.
