The last thing we want hear is that more people in Acadiana could be losing their jobs, but unfortunately that's what it looks like. According to KATC, LGMC announced today that they are having to cutback, and it could affect as many as 70 employees.

KATC reports that in a letter sent to LGMC employees, the hospital states that "the changes are necessary because of reimbursement and local economic conditions."

The letter also states that the need for the changes is a result of "shifts in reimbursements the hospital receives, state and federal funding cuts and the local economic downturn. Larger patient co-pays and higher deductibles in insurance plans are leading to more bad debt, as well, the letter states."

LGMC says the layoffs are expected in the next 30 days.

We absolutely hate hearing of any layoffs in any industry and our thoughts are with everyone at LGMC.
