This past Friday night saw the end of the regular season for high school football in Louisiana. Throughout the state hometown stadiums were filled with proud moms and dads escorting their senior football players, cheerleaders, dance line members and band members across the field for senior night. Now that all the pomp and circumstance of the evening has come and gone, it is time for the second season. The play offs begin tonight.

This past Sunday the LHSAA announced the official pairings for the playoffs. Many Acadiana teams are going to be playing in the first round and quite a few of those teams are expected to make a significant run to finals in the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans December 7 and 8..

In class 5A the Lafayette High Mighty Lions are the 32 seed and they will be on the road facing perennial powerhouse Archbishop Rummel. Carencro is the 28th seed and they will take on Catholic High of Baton Rouge. The Yellowjackets of New Iberia will host Scotlandville. Acadiana's Wreckin' Rams will play host to Zachary.

In Class 4A Breaux Bridge is seeded 17 and will be on the road against 16 seed Plaquemine. The Vikings of Northside are seeded at 28 and they will face an always tough Salmen team on the road. The Teurlings Rebels will welcome Woodlawn of Shreveport to their new stadium while St. Martinville gets a road date against Lutcher. St. Thomas More hosts Easton, Warren, the Cougars are the number 7 seed. Eunice is at #3 and will host Lusher Charter.

In Class 3A the Erath Bobcats are seeded number 32 and will travel to take on the always tough team from Parkview Baptist. Jennings is the 13 seed and they will host  Bogalusa on Friday. The Pirates of Kaplan High will be traveling to take on Loranger. It's going to be a battle of neighbors when Rayne hosts Church Point. Iowa will be on the road traveling to Buckeye and North Vermilion will take on Avoyelles. The always tough Notre Dame Pios out of Crowley will be hosting Patterson.

In Class 2A Welsh will host North Lake Christian as the number 13 seed. Loreauville will play host to Ville Platte while Catholic of New Iberia is hosting Mansfield. Lake Arthur will be on the road against Rosepine.

In Class 1A Basile will play host to Elton on Friday night. Vermilion Catholic will be hosting St Martin's Episcopal while Opelousas Catholic travels to West St John. Westminster Christian will be hosting Ascension Catholic and Oberlin hosts St. Mary .
