If you need to travel on Highway 90 in St. Mary Parish today, you're going to have a detour to deal with.

St. Mary Parish Deputies report that an 18-wheeler spilled liquid nitrogen just off of Highway 90, near Pepper Road in the Jeanerette area.

All lanes are closed east and west including the service roads in this area.

Hazmat is currently on the scene to clean up the spill.

KATC reports traffic is being detoured to Highway 182 via Pepper Road in the west and Highway 318 in the east.

I'm no scientist, but I can't help but think the liquid nitrogen can't be good for the structural integrity of the pavement. Hopefully this incident won't mean the area of road will need to be completely re-constructed.

We'll keep you posted.
