Live Thoroughbred Racing Returns To EVD Tonight

The call to the post will ring through the St. Landry Parish evening tonight when once again Acadiana's horse racing fans will gather at Evangeline Downs.

Tonight marks the first night of the spring thoroughbred meet at the Opelousas facility. This year's meet is scheduled for 84 days of live racing.

Tonight's card features 11 races with first post scheduled for 5:40pm. The highlight of the evening is race 8 when nine three year old horses will travel the Evangeline Downs mile for a $25-thousand dollar purse. Those who can't make it to the track can also use Bet Louisiana; a computer option that allows players to wager using their personal computer.

In addition to live racing at Evangeline Downs tonight race fans can enjoy live music following the evening's final race. Performances from some of Acadiana's favorite entertainers will be featured at 10pm. Among those who will be performing,  Richard Lebeouf tonight, Keith Frank on Thursday and Friday night it's GG Shin and T.K. Hulin. Sammy Kershaw will perform after the racing card on Saturday.
